Welcome to www.metar.no

These web pages are dedicated to the Weather, Meteorology and Climate. Most of the content here is free, like the Weather News, the Free Weather Course and the Weather Maps etc.

The Weather and Climate is affecting most of our daily lives. It is therefore important for almost all people, especially in the offshore oil business, shipping, fishermen and farmers, but also Boaters, Mountaineers, Golfers and all people, which are doing outside activities in general.

Learning Weather. Most people chitchats more or less about the weather, without having a clue other than what is said on the Weather Forecasts or on radio or TV. Why not start to learn something useful about it? If you do, you will be able to make your own weather forecasts. You don't need a Masters' degree to learn about the weather as everybody interested in this can learn about this too. How much you want to dig down in this matter will vary from person to person. If you want, you can become a weather expert and amateur

meteorologist, or just one, which knows a bit more about the weather than most other people do. If you need a hobby, the weather is a very interesting and exciting place to start. A benefit which will also let you know what is going to happen with the weather the next hours, when you are depending the most of it. We are therefore very happy being able to offer a Free Weather Course here for all weather interested visitors. Please study it and learn from it. We are also going to regularly update these pages with new articles about the weather, meteorological and climate topics, tips and tricks you can learn from.

Please check out the blue horizontal menu (at the top of this page). Here you will amongst other things also find a collection of animated Weather Maps for the European continent (world covering animated weather maps is planned). They are free to link at for non-commercial sites. If you need more information about how to link to our Weather maps please click here.

We also just started a Free Weather Forum where all aspects of the weather and climate can be discussed and tips shared etc.
